San Luis Obispo police arrested a 37-year-old man Friday night for allegedly stabbing a woman in the arm at Mitchell Park on Osos Street, police said.
Shortly before midnight, officers responded to a 911 call that a woman had been stabbed while attempting to stop Patrick Michael Egerton, of San Luis Obispo, from stabbing another man. At the scene, officers found a female victim with a stab wound to her arm, according to police. Egerton had fled on foot.
Emergency personnel transported the female victim to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries, and then released.
Police later located Egerton on the 800 block of Pacific Street. Egerton refused to comply with officer commands and a struggle ensued. One officer sustained minor injuries during the struggle, according to police.
Officers arrested Egerton on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of resisting arrest and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to call the San Luis Obispo Police Department at 805-781-7312 or Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP.
