Firefighters extinguish two brush fires in Santa Margarita

Firefighters quickly contained two brush fires in Santa Margarita on Monday afternoon, according to Cal Fire.

Shortly before 4 p.m., two fires were reported off Highway 58, on opposite sides of the road. The larger of the two fires burned 9 acres on the Santa Margarita Ranch, east of highway.

The smaller fire burned 2.5 acres on the west side of the highway.

Firefighters contained both fires by 5 p.m.
