The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce (PRCC) announced the week that Jeff Eckles will be joining their team as the Director of Economic Development to lead the charge in their role as the Lead Agency for Economic Development in Paso Robles.

Eckles joins the Chamber after serving the past three years as the executive director of the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast (HBACC) where he worked as the liaison between the association and local government, the media and the community. Prior to the HBACC, Eckles founded and served as the president of Eckles Wealth Management, an independent investment management firm.

Eckles is also the owner and founder of Morro Bay House of Jerky.

“Hiring someone with Jeff’s experience and talent is a clear example of the Chamber’s determination to generate momentum and create a positive impact for our economic vitality while maintaining our quality of life here,” said Larry Werner, PRCC chair of the Economic Development Committee. “We interviewed several candidates and were very impressed with the high quality of the people we met, but Jeff stood out for his experience and ability to create and expand relationships with various stakeholders.”

Eckles has been active in the community having served as the Chairman for the Harbor Advisory Board for the City of Morro Bay and as president of the Estero Bay Community

Foundation. He has also served on several committees including the Economic Development Committee for the SLO Chamber of Commerce, and as the current treasurer of the Housing Trust Fund of SLO County.

Earlier this year the Paso Robles City Council took steps to enter into a partnership with the chamber as part of their economic development initiative.

“With this partnership our purpose is to encourage business prosperity by promoting a healthy and diverse local economy,” said Gina Fitzpatrick, chamber president and CEO.

“This will be accomplished through advocacy, identifying resources, and directing information to our members and prospective businesses looking to strengthen, move, or start their business in Paso Robles. We are passionate about developing a thriving local economy and have the expertise and strategic partnerships to be successful and firmly believe that Jeff is the right person to lead us in this effort.”

The Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce is an association of businesses and individuals organized to promote the economic vitality of the greater Paso Robles business community.

Would it be overly cynical to believe that Mr. Eckles would take advantage of his new position to promote his District 2 candidacy, given the long antagonism between the 1st & 2nd Districts?
