Goleta man arrested for machete attack

Deputies arrested a Goleta man suspected of assaulting an acquaintance with a machete during a Friday night fight, according to the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Department.

Shortly before midnight, a caller reported an assault that had occurred at a mobile home park in the 900 block of Ward Drive, not far from Goleta Beach. Deputies arrived to find a 51-year-old man whose fingers had been seriously sliced by a machete.

Deputies found Joseph Bianco, 35, at Goleta Beach on Saturday, according to the sheriff’​s department. At the time, Bianco was in possession of a credit card that did not belong to him.

Bianco was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and misappropriation of lost property, with bail set at $55,000.
