Lompoc man arrested for kidnapping woman in SLO

Daniel Guerrero

Officers arrested a Lompoc man Monday for allegedly kidnapping a woman from outside a San Luis Obispo bar and then attempting to rape her.

At about 1:30 a.m., Daniel Guerrero approached a woman outside a bar and claimed two of the woman’s friends had asked him to drive her to another friend’s home. The woman believed Guerrero and got into his car.

When the woman realized they were not headed in the direction of her friend’s home, she asked Guerrero to turn around. Guerrero responded by telling the woman they were going to have sex.

The woman refused Guerrero’s advances and told him to let her out of the car. Guerrero then punched the woman in the face and chest.

After several attempts to free herself, the woman jumped from the car as Guerrero was driving through Oceano.

Two witnesses called police to report a woman had jumped from a moving car and was screaming that she had been kidnapped.

Police spotted Guerrero fleeing the area and after a short chase, Guerrero crashed.

Officers arrested Guerrero on charges of kidnapping, assault with intent to commit rape and false imprisonment and booked him into the San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $520,000 bail.

Emergency personnel transported the victim, who was suffering minor injuries, to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital.
