Arturo Herrera
A Santa Barbara County jury found a 31-year-old Lompoc man guilty of murdering his brother, whom he killed in a home they shared with their mother.
On July 4, 2016, Arturo Herrera reported that his younger brother, Enrique Herrera, 28, was the victim of an assault. Deputies arrived at the home in the 4300 block of West Ocean Avenue and found the younger brother dead inside his bedroom.
Detectives said Enrique Herrera had been bludgeoned to death while he was asleep in his bed. Prosecutors said Arturo Herrera’s cellphone showed he watched violent and graphic videos prior to fatally attacking his brother.
Both brothers served in the U.S. Marine Corps. The mother of the two men was not home at the time of the murder.
Arturo Herrera is now facing 26 years to life in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 11.
