Driver extricated after slamming into Nipomo power pole

A driver slammed into a power pole in Nipomo Monday evening, knocking down power lines and causing the person to be trapped inside the vehicle.

The crash occurred around 7 p.m. in the 1700 block of Hutton Road, according to Cal Fire. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the vehicle rolled over on its side.

They extricated the driver, who managed to avoid suffering serious injuries. PG&E workers came out to repair the power lines.

It is unclear what caused the driver to slam into the pole.
