Shortly before 7:30 a.m.,the driver hit the currently unidentified bicyclist on Corbett Canyon Road close to Highway 227. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

CHP officers say the woman was between the ages of 20 and 40. She was wearing sandals and no helmet and did not have identification on her, officers said. Officials will likely use fingerprint analysis to identify the victim.

When interviewed by officers, the driver said he was heading to work, traveling eastbound on Corbett Canyon Road, and he did not see the woman prior to colliding with her. Investigators say the glare of the sun may have been a factor in the collision.

Officers did not arrest the driver.

The accident was the second bicyclist fatality locally in the last couple months. In late August, a 17-year-old Los Osos girl who was allegedly driving drunk struck and killed a 22-year-old Cal Poly student in San Luis Obispo.
