Missing Orcutt teen found with her wanted boyfriend in Washington

Destiny Navarette

Authorities located a 16-year-old Orcutt girl who had been missing for more than three weeks. She was found in Washington state on Wednesday with her boyfriend, who was wanted on criminal charges.

Destiny Navarette had last been seen on Sept. 18 at Righetti High, the school she attends. Her family reported her missing the next day.

The teen’s boyfriend, 18-year-old Miguel Perez De La Cruz of Guadalupe, had an outstanding arrest warrant for a probation violation and a criminal protective order barring him from contacting Navarette. Authorities located Navarette and Perez in Othello, Washington.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives worked with the Othello Police Department to track down the missing couple. Just after 4 p.m. Wednesday, they were discovered at a location in Othello where one of Perez’s relatives lived.

Navarette was found to be safe and is now being returned to her family. Officers arrested Perez and booked him in jail in Washington for violating his restraining order.

An investigation is ongoing.
