Atascadero woman killed in Santa Barbara car crash

A 28-year-old Atascadero woman died early Friday morning after losing control of her car on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara and slamming into a palm tree near the Garden Street exit.

Shortly after 1 a.m., Jordan Marie Conklin’s car hit the palm tree and split into multiple pieces. Responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

It is unknown what caused the woman to drive off the highway. Investigators have yet to determine whether or not drugs or alcohol were a factor.

An investigation is ongoing.
