A Cal Poly student was found dead in an on-campus apartment Monday evening. Although a death investigation is ongoing, Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong has already stated in an email to the university community that the student died of “natural causes.”
University officials have identified the deceased student as Brett Tyler, a business administration junior. Cal Poly police found Tyler’s body in a Poly Canyon Village apartment around 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Cal Poly officials say there were no signs of foul play. The university is offer counseling services for anyone affected by the death, and a celebration of life is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday on the O’Neill Green.
