Nipomo High School wrestling coach accused of sexually inappropriate behavior

Nipomo High School girls wrestling coach and teacher Justin Magdaleno is on paid administrative leave while the Lucia Mar Unified School District investigates accusations of sexually inappropriate contact with some of the girls on the wrestling team.

About 10 members of the girls wrestling team have accused the coach of making inappropriate comments about their bodies, according to the Tribune. Other students have accused the coach of inappropriate touches.

One parent told Cal Coast Times Magdaleno resigned his position on Oct. 19 claiming personal reasons but continued to teach. He has since been placed on paid administrative leave while the district investigates the allegations.

After teaching at Nipomo High for about four years, Magdaleno founded the girl’s wrestling team in 2013. Married with a young child, Magdaleno was teaching psychology and government at Nipomo High School when he was placed on leave.
