Man stabs former coworker after getting fired from Santa Maria business

About a month after getting fired from Leo’s Upholstery in Santa Maria, a man returned to the business and stabbed a former coworker on Tuesday. The victim survived the attack, and the suspect managed to evade police. [KSBY]

About 3 p.m., the suspect stabbed the victim twice in the lower back outside Leo’s Upholstery on West Main Street. After the stabbing, the suspect reportedly ran across the street and jumped into a black four-door vehicle.

Police say the attacker was last seen heading northbound on Russell Avenue. Officers searched the area door-to-door and tried to find witnesses.

The victim went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the suspect or the victim.
