Morro Bay police officers arrested five suspects from the Bakersfield area who allegedly stole backpacks, sporting goods and a bicycle from different vehicles near Morro Rock.
On Nov. 9, a woman called 911 from the Morro Rock parking area, saying she caught the men inside her vehicle, and they were trying to flee the area. Officers arrived within minutes, found a vehicle carrying the theft suspects and arrested five people.
Officers recovered $1,000 worth of stolen property from the suspects’ car, which had been taken from two different vehicles. Authorities returned the goods to the rightful owners and impounded the suspects’ vehicle for further investigation.
Police arrested four men and one juvenile and booked them into the San Luis Obispo County Jail and juvenile hall. The suspects are: Elvis Sandoval, 25; Omar Macias, 22; Oswaldo Villegas, 19; Alberto Noriega, 20; and a 17-year-old Hispanic male whom police are not identifying.
