CHP identifies teen as man killed in San Miguel crash

Officers have identified the 19-year-old San Miguel man who was killed in a fatal crash in North County on Friday as Sean Schultz, according to the CHP.

Shortly before 4 p.m., Sean Schultz was driving a silver BMW at a high-rate of speed on Ranchita Canyon Road east of San Miguel shortly. He then attempted to go around a corner and lost control of his vehicle.

The BMW went off the road, drove 30 feet down an embankment and overturned. Schultz, who was not wearing a seat belt, was reportedly ejected from the car.

Schultz died following the accident. An 18-year-old passenger, also from San Miguel, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.

A CHP investigation into the crash is ongoing. It is unclear whether or not alcohol was a factor in the crash.
