SLO package thief caught on camera

A woman walked away with a package that was sitting on the front porch of a San Luis Obispo home Monday afternoon. While the woman managed to get away, she failed to evade a surveillance camera, and police are now searching for her.

Shortly before 4 p.m., the woman grabbed a package that had been delivered to a house in the 2500 block of Augusta Street about 45 minutes earlier. The woman then fled by foot.

The stolen package contained a baby’s hat, which was a gift for a 7-month-old child, according to the Tribune.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the thief to call the SLO Police Department.

Additionally, the police department is advising residents to have packages delivered to their place of work or a delivery location, such as a post office, FedEx Office or UPS Store. If residents still choose to have packages delivered to their houses when they are not home, they are encouraged to require a signature for the delivery.
