Joshua Nathaniel Stone

A wanted felon from Mendocino County crashed his car on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo last week, and soon after, officers discovered the vehicle contained a weapons cache and a stash of drugs.

On Nov. 30, Joshua Nathaniel Stone, 37, was involved in an accident on southbound Highway 101 near Madonna Road. CHP officers arrived at the scene of the collision, and during questioning, Stone admitted that he had a warrant out for his arrest from Mendocino County for a weapons violation.

Officers searched Stone’s car and found two loaded handguns with missing serial numbers, one AR-15 rifle and a 30-round magazine loaded with 29 rounds, plus additional ammunition. Officers also found about 50 pounds of marijuana packaged for sale and several containers of black tar heroin, as well as syringes and scales.

CHP personnel arrested Stone and charged him with numerous offenses, including being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of an assault weapon and possession of narcotics for sale. Officers booked him in San Luis Obispo County Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
