Friends and family come together
Each year this yuletide day
In shelter from the chilly weather
To admire a festive winter display
We’re mindful as this year doth end
That spring will at last return
Our hopes and dreams will transcend
All fear and earthly concern
And we laud the birth of a lowly child
Who lived a pauper’s life
Among people who were much reviled
Who endured great pain and strife
Yet a message of hope and angelic grace
Was born in a humble abode
To counter cruelty found everyplace
Alas, love became the mother lode
So we bring with us our goodly cheer
All the affection we have to share
We know this life will persevere
And love will triumph everywhere
