A fire ignited by discarded ashes destroyed an Atascadero barn at about midnight on Christmas. [KSBY]

The blaze burned a small amount of vegetation, in addition to the barn on the 9200 block of Lucinda Lane.

The barn burned down as fire trucks and police vehicles arrived at the scene. Atascadero fire officials say no significant items were stored in the barn at the time it caught fire.

Fire personnel were mopping up what was left of the blaze early Tuesday morning.
