Two small fires broke out on New Year’s Day along Highway 1 north of Cayucos.

One blaze burned a half acre, while the other burned just a 10 foot by 30 foot hotspot, according to Cal Fire. The cause or causes of the fires are unclear.

In a tweet, Cal Fire initially described the blazes as vegetation fires with downed power lines. Fire officials then issued a second tweet stating no power lines were down.

There were no reports of any injuries.
