At about 6 p.m. on Sunday, people were celebrating at a picnic area at Leadbetter Beach when a fight broke out. Following the stabbing, the group fled.

Officers arrived and found Jennifer Calzada, 42, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Responders transported Calzada to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where she received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation is ongoing. Police say alcohol is considered a factor in the case, and investigators have several leads.

Hours later, one man was murdered and one man was wounded in a shooting in downtown Santa Barbara. The shooting occurred at about 3 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Victoria and De La Vina streets. No arrests have been made in the deadly shooting case either.
