Atascadero man accused of raping underage girls

Jess Drue Brasuell III

A 300-pound 56-year-old Atascadero man who has been sitting in San Luis Obispo County Jail since November is now accused of sexually assaulting four underage girls.

Officers arrested Jess Drue Brasusell III on Nov. 9 following an alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl. A search of Brasusell’s home in the 7100 block of Sombrilla Avenue led investigators to identify three other victims, according to the Atascadero Police Department.

Brasusell is currently facing charges including rape of an unconscious victim, rape of a drugged victim, sexual intercourse with a minor, oral copulation with a person under 18 and contact with a minor with intent to commit a sex crime. Investigators also suspect Brasuell possessed child pornography and furnished a controlled substance to a minor.

KSBY reports several residents in Brasuell’s neighborhood saw young women going in and out of his home for weeks at a time, and some of them appeared to be under the influence. The neighbors did not report the activity, thinking the females were adults.

Brasuell is 6 feet tall and weighs 300 pounds, according to jail records. He is currently being held in jail with his bail set at $200,000.
