A 75-year-old driver struck and killed a 69-year-old pedestrian in Paso Robles on Friday, according to the city’s police department.
Shortly before 1 p.m., Federic Vargas of Templeton was driving southbound on Spring Street when he crashed into the victim at the 21st Street intersection. Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Vargas remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to police.
Atascadero police, the San Luis Obispo County coroner’s unit, the CHP air operations unit and Paso Robles public works personnel assisted with the investigation. Authorities are waiting until relatives have been notified to disclose the victim’s identity.
