A vandal started a fire at a children’s area of the recently remodeled Sinsheimer Park over the weekend, according to the San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department.

Workers found burn marks on the artificial grassy hillside at a new play area for children at the park. Officials then closed the hillside indefinitely.

Parks and recreation officials say the arson occurred sometime late Saturday or early Sunday morning. San Luis Obispo police have not identified any suspects.
