OPINION by DANE SENSER
I’ve been a super fan of the Super Bowl and the NFL for 56 years. I never missed one Super Bowl. I’ve actually attended four live Super Bowls. I’ll never forget watching one of my first Super Bowls on TV during the famous Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys game known as the “Ice Bowl.” I think it was the coldest ever.

I’m sure a lot of people in the county won’t dispute my enthusiasm when they see my sports antics during a board of supervisors public comment a few years back.
However, this year things changed for myself and millions of other patriots when NFL players started disrespecting the national anthem, veterans and the country by taking a knee.
My father was a World War II veteran who fought valiantly and watched his brothers get killed next to him.
Now Roger Goodell tells the veterans they can’t have a 30 second spot on TV during the Super Bowl (#PleaseStand) because it’s too political. You don’t want to know what I think, Mr. commissioner of the NFL?
This will be the first Super Bowl in my life I won’t be attending or watching because I’ll be standing in silent prayer for our veterans, citizens, President Trump and our country during the game for three hours at:
“Faces of Freedom” Veterans Memorial
9029 Morro Rd, Atascadero
Join me there.
How is praying for the country on bended knee disrespectful?
Nothing…except for when you do it is at a disrespectful time and when there is no basis for what you are supposedly praying about.
There is no racial injustice this this country? As for timing, what better time? Here is a clip where they all stood as instructed. No afterthought for those suffering racism, homophobia or sexism.

Maybe this is why World War II was fought. We should learn from history and be tolerant of how others express themselves even thought we disagree.
