Boy accidentally shoots himself at Santa Barbara gun range

A teenage boy suffered a gunshot wound at a shooting range in the hills above Santa Barbara Thursday afternoon. A preliminary investigation indicates the teen accidentally shot himself, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Shortly after 1 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Glass Factory on E. Camino Cielo and provided first aid.

At the time of the shooting, the teen was under adult supervision. Authorities have yet to release additional information about the Teen’s condition.

The Glass Factory is an open area approved for target shooting by the Los Padres National Forest. The Forest Service, however, calls the location the Arroyo Burro Shooting Area and does not consider the firing area a gun range.
