Man dies in fiery crash on Highway 101 in Orcutt

A man died in a fiery crash on Highway 101 in Orcutt Wednesday night, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Shortly before 7:30 p.m., the vehicle left the highway near Clark Avenue struck a tree, rolled several times and caught on fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Photos show firefighters extinguishing the blaze prior to extricating the man from the wrecked vehicle. There was no one else inside the vehicle.

The CHP is investigating the crash. It is unclear what caused the driver to leave the roadway.

Authorities have yet to release the deceased man’s identity.
