Morro Bay house fire displaces three residents

A large house fire destroyed a home in Morro Bay Sunday evening, displacing three residents.

Shortly after 6 p.m., the fire was reported at a house in the 300 block of Vashon Street in North Morro Bay. Residents were inside the house at the time, but escaped without suffering injuries.

Large flames, as well as a lot of smoke, shot up into the air near Highway 1. Morro Bay firefighters arrived at the scene, and with help from several other fire agencies, extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to other houses. However, the fire damaged two other homes. Photos also show at least one vehicle was burned.

The fire resulted in a power outage in the area. PG&E workers later restored power to all affected homes.

Officials have yet to determined the cause of the blaze. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

Passed by the area on my way to the hardware store, came back by 10 min later, the house was fully engulfed in flames. Surprising how fast that can happen, scary.
So glad there were no injuries or deaths!
