Arroyo Grande police tracked down a wanted felon who is suspected in multiple burglaries after he allegedly tried to hide a gun in some bushes Saturday morning.

At about 8:35 a.m., an Arroyo Grande resident witnessed a man taking a box out of his vehicle and hiding it in the bushes near a home. The witness called police, and officers arrived at the scene, where they found a firearm in the bushes.

Meanwhile, another resident told police that the same man was acting suspiciously in a nearby neighborhood. Officers then located the suspect, Pooyan Eslambolipour, and his vehicle.

Eslambolipour fled by foot, but officers caught him after a brief chase and arrested him. Police then found multiple items of stolen property in Eslambolipour’s vehicle that had been taken in vehicle burglaries in the Buellton area.

Officers booked Eslambolipour in San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and felon committing a crime while out on bail, as well as felony possession of stolen property and having an outstanding felony warrant for possession of stolen property.

Arroyo Grande police commend residents for reporting Eslambolipour’s suspicious behavior. Eslambolipour currently remains in jail facing a total of 20 counts with his bail set at $120,000.
