Former Santa Maria girls soccer coach admits to soliciting sex from player

Francisco Sanabria

A former Santa Maria girls soccer coach pleaded guilty to two sex crime counts involving one of his former players.

Fancisco Sanabria pleaded guilty to misdemeanor molesting a child under 18 years old and felony contacting a minor for sex. Sanabria will received a 270-day jail sentence and will also have to register as a sex offender.

Sanabria allegedly kissed one of his former players, solicited lewd photos from her on his cellphone and asked her to sneak out of her house to meet him. Santa Maria police officers arrested Sanabria last year on charges of annoying or molesting a child under 18 and contacting a minor to solicit lewd photographs.

At the time, Sanabria was an assistant girls soccer coach at Santa Maria High. He also coached a club soccer team in the area.

Investigators suspect that Sanabria victimized multiple girls. Sanabria’s sentencing is scheduled for April 4.
