Grover Beach gas leak causes evacuations

A gas line broke in a construction zone in Grover Beach Tuesday morning, resulting in authorities carrying out evacuations of nearby buildings.

The gas leak occurred in the area of Second Street and Newport Avenue, according to the Grover Beach Police Department. Grover Beach police and Five Cities Fire personnel responded and closed off the area to the public.

Gas Company personnel arrived at the scene and turned off gas in the area. Authorities are requesting that people stay away from the area.
