Hiker airlifted after falling 30 feet near Ragged Point

 

A CHP helicopter airlifted an injured hiker who fell about 30 feet near Ragged Point on Sunday.

The female hiker suffered an ankle injury after falling while on the Salmon Creek trail. A friend of the hiker hiked up to the road closure on Highway 1, borrowed a phone and called for help, according to the CHP.

An H-70 CHP helicopter crew then rescued the woman. Cal Fire and Cambria Ambulance assisted with the rescue.

Officials have not disclosed the extent of the hiker’s injuries.
