Helicopter rescues injured man after fall near Pirate’s Cove

A California Highway Patrol helicopter airlifted a man who injured himself while trying to access the beach just north of Pirate’s Cove Thursday afternoon, according to Cal Fire.

At about 2:30 p.m., the man fell about 50 feet while using old ropes to rappel down to the beach. He suffered a fractured leg. [KSBY]

Fire engines and an ambulance came out to the scene, and the helicopter transferred the injured man to medical personnel waiting above a cliff. A Port San Luis rescue boat also assisted with the emergency response.
