For the second time in less than a month, a 17-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound in Santa Maria. As was the case with the last incident, the victim in Saturday’s shooting is expected to survive.
At about 8:40 p.m., the 17-year-old was shot in the leg outside a home in the 800 block of N. Stokes Avenue, according to the Santa Maria Police Department. Responders transported the victim to the hospital.
The shooter and possibly other suspects fled the scene. Police say there are at least two suspects in the case, but investigators have not determined their identities.
It is unclear whether the victim or any suspects had ties to a home in the area of the shooting. Investigators are also trying to determine whether the shooting was gang related.
Investigators ask anyone who has information about the shooting to call Santa Maria police at (805) 928-3781 ext. 2277.
The previous shooting in Santa Maria that also left a 17-year-old boy wounded occurred on March 28. That shooting occurred near a park and elementary school in the area of 1300 N. Railroad Avenue.
Name please. If the “boy” truly is a victim then no reason to hide his identity.
