A Paso Robles house caught fire early Sunday morning while a father and son were asleep inside. The father and son escaped safely after they were notified by an alert neighbor, according to the Paso Robles Fire Department.
The fire broke out before 3 a.m. in a two-car garage at a home in the 900 block of Player Lane.
When fire personnel arrived at the scene, they found the garage fire extending into the attic of the house. Firefighters put out the blaze in the attic space and worked to stop smoke and water damage to the home and the residents’ belongings.
Fire officials have not disclosed the extent of the damage to the home, though the garage appeared severely burned. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A total of 19 firefighters responded to the blaze, including personnel from Cal Fire and the Templeton and Atascadero fire departments. Paso Robles police and San Luis Ambulance also assisted with the response to the fire.
