Big rig drives off Highway 101 in SLO

A big rig truck drove off Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo Tuesday evening, creating a rush hour traffic jam.

At about 5:30 p.m., the big rig overturned by Highway 101 and South Higuera Street. The crashed blocked the slow lane of southbound traffic on the highway, according to Caltrans.

The driver of the truck only suffered minor injuries. There were reportedly concerns that fuel had leaked, though officials did not confirm that was the case.

Both lanes of southbound Highway 101 reopened later Tuesday evening. It is unclear what caused the big rig to drive off the highway.
