It’s tough to keep track of all of them: sexual abuse. domestic abuse, child abuse, elder abuse, spousal abuse, etc. With its Anholm Bikeway proposal, our San Luis Obispo City Council has invented a new one: neighborhood abuse. Atascadero council approves downtown mixed use project

The Atascadero City Council unanimously approved a mixed used project last week that planners say will be a catalyst for development in the downtown area.

Known as the La Plaza project, the development consists of 42 homes and about 18,000 square feet of commercial space. The project is located on a 1.83-acre lot on El Camino Real in downtown Atascadero. Read More …

Cal Poly Open House marred by protest over campus racism

As Cal Poly welcomed prospective students and their families over the weekend to the university’s annual Open House, hundreds of students boycotted the event, marched and protested on and off campus, creating an uneasy situation for administrators, particularly President Jeffrey Armstrong.

Protesters chanted numerous slogans, including “I am not Cal Poly proud” and “Hey, hey, ho, ho. Armstrong has got to go,” while the university president spoke with prospective students. Read More …
